1. Disconnect the battery, remove the handles and the heater control panel (see chapter "Body and body equipment"). Remove the glove box from under the dashboard.
2 Connect the wire to the radio "masses". Connect the other end of the wire to the connector "masses" at the back of the instrument panel. Connect the wire with the line fuse to terminal 30 of the fuse box (thick red wire).
3. Install a line fuse in the holder and route the wire to the instrument panel mounting hole. Connect the power to the radio. Connect the speaker wires to the radio (the black and white wire of the plug must be connected to the black and white wire of the socket). Insert the plug of the antenna cable into the socket of the receiver (pic. C:2).
4. Connect the battery. Pull out the antenna, turn on the radio and tune in to any station in the medium wave band (wavelength about 200 m). Adjust the wavelength with the adjustment screw to get the maximum volume. Disconnect the battery.
5. Remove the control knobs and decorative panel from the radio. If the radio is longer than usual, install a bracket on the back of the radio. Insert the radio into the hole and install the latches, trim panel and trim. Fasten the receiver with nuts and replace the control knobs (pic. C:1).
Install the heater control panel and knobs Check the operation of the radio by connecting the battery.
6. Please note that radio interference suppression measures may be required (see section "RF interference suppression" Further).
Mono speaker
The installation location for the speaker supplied with the mono radio is in the instrument panel under the speaker grille. Press the grille out of the dashboard, connect the wires to the speaker - the black wire to the terminal marked with a red dot.
Install the speaker as shown in fig. C:3. Route the wires to the back of the mounting hole, then reinstall the speaker by inserting its tabs into the cutouts provided. Secure the speaker with self-tapping screws and install the grille.
Stereo speakers
1. Speakers are installed in the front door upholstery panels. Remove door handles, power window handles, etc., remove both door trim panels (see "Body and body equipment").
2. The position of the speaker openings on the Scirocco and Golf models is shown in fig. C:4 and C:5 Using the templates, drill four holes with a diameter of 3 mm and cut openings in the door frames as shown in the illustrations.
3. The position of the holes in the front pillars of the body are shown in the figures. Drill a 9mm hole in the front edge of the door and in the post (on the Golf model, these holes are already made).
4. Insert the rubber bushings into the holes and pass the wires through them from the radio or radio to the speaker.
5. Connect the wires to the speaker, then install the speaker, door trim, etc. Make sure the speaker wires are routed away from the power window mechanism.
