Replacement
The rear shock absorber is removed from the vehicle assembly with the suspension spring as a single unit (rice. H:11).
To remove the shock absorber, remove the upper mount cap in the luggage compartment, unscrew the nut, then remove the Belleville washer and rubber bushing from the stem.
Raise and jack up the rear of the vehicle. Remove bolt with nut (pic. H:7) lower shock absorber mount and disconnect the shock absorber from the rear axle arm. Remove the shock absorber with the spring from under the car. Remove the lower shock absorber rubber bushing.
Compress the coil spring with two spring compressors. Loosen the round castle nut (pic. H:8) using a special tool or gas wrench. Hold the rod from turning by the flats on its end.
Remove the spacer, upper spring plate and spring. Remove the rubber buffer and boot from the stem (in the presence of).
Reinstall the removed parts on the new shock absorber. If there was no cover on the old shock absorber, be sure to install it on the new shock absorber - this is important. Tighten the round castle nut to 2.0 kNm and remove the compression tools from the coil spring.
NOTE: As of August 1977 new strut top mounts are installed (rice. H:11), while increasing the length of the thread on the shock absorber rod. The new top mount can be fitted to older vehicles with new shock absorbers.
Install the assembled rack on the car in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the top and bottom fasteners to the torque specified in section "Technical data".
