Hub trunnion replacement

The rear hub trunnion must be replaced if the bearing seating surfaces, threads are damaged, or if it is bent due to a strong impact.

Replacement

1. Remove the hub with brake drum or disc as previously described.

2. Disconnect the handbrake cable from the brake shoe lever and brake shield.

3. Remove the four bolts securing the brake shield and the hub trunnion to the rear axle, separate the brake shield and the trunnion from the bridge, then remove the trunnion from the brake shield (pic. H:9). It is not necessary to disconnect the brake pipe, but be careful not to damage it.



4. Installation of the trunnion is carried out in the reverse order. Check the cleanliness of the mating surfaces of the trunnion of the hub and the axle flange. Tighten the mounting bolts with a torque of 6.0 kGm.

5. Assemble the hub onto the trunnion as described earlier.
