Basic tool and equipment

To carry out repairs, you will need a set of tools, described in detail below. In addition, some operations require special tools that are not included in the "basic" kit. It is wiser not to buy most of these tools, but to borrow them, since they are needed only once or twice during the life of the car. Each chapter has a section "Tool and equipment", which lists the tools required for a particular job.

List of tools included in the main locksmith set:

• Socket wrench set (heads) for bolts and nuts with metric and inch threads
• Set of open-end and box spanners for bolts and nuts with metric and inch threads
• torque wrench
• Set of short and long screwdrivers for slotted screws of various shapes and sizes
• Flat feeler set
• Hammer
• Kiyanka (hammer with soft surface)
• Pliers with thin jaws (round nose pliers)
• Pliers with wide jaws (pliers)
• wire cutters
• Self tightening grip (e.g. spanner or stud driver)
• Special clamp (needle nose pliers) for removing and installing retaining and thrust spring rings
• Adjustable wrench
• File
• Hacksaw for metal
• Pilot lamp (12 V) with wires
• Portable lamp for lighting the workplace
• Hydraulic or screw jack with stand set
• Vise

In addition, a core is often needed (punch) and an electric drill with drills and a set of nozzles - especially when installing additional equipment.
