Tool and equipment

All fasteners on the engine are metric. The heads of the bolts can be both regular and with internal hexagons, therefore, to loosen them, you will need sets of ordinary wrenches (open-end, cap and end) and hex keys (the so-called Allen keys) - see chapter "Basic rules for work".

In addition, some operations require a number of special tools. In most cases, they can be replaced with a conventional tool, as mentioned in the text of this chapter:

• Universal Valve Spring Compressor - For valve removal.
• Electric drill with a wire brush - for removing carbon deposits from the valve surfaces of the combustion chambers.
• Tool for lapping valves to seats.
• Valve seat grinder - to restore the surface of the seats in case of severe burns.
• A set of mandrels of various sizes - for installing oil seals (pipe cuts or socket wrench heads of the appropriate diameter are suitable).
• fixture (mandrel) for compressing piston rings - for installing pistons in cylinders.
• Twelve-sided spline key ("star") size 10 mm or 12 mm - for loosening and tightening the cylinder head bolts.
