Front oil seal (pulley side) - replacement
The front crankshaft oil seal is easily replaced after removing the toothed belt.
1. Turn out a bolt of a pulley of a cranked shaft and remove from a shaft a pulley together with an asterisk of a gear belt. Do not attempt to remove the pulley separately.
2. Remove the oil seal from the oil pump housing using a special puller (pic. Q:22) or with two self-tapping screws and pliers.
3. Make sure that the oil seal seat and the surface of the crankshaft journal are clean, lightly lubricate them.
4. Press a new oil seal into the housing using a special tool or mandrel (pic. Q:23).
5. An appropriately sized socket wrench can also be used to press in the gland. Install the gland in the socket evenly, without distortion.
6. Install the pulley with an asterisk on the crankshaft and secure them with a bolt. Tighten the bolt with a torque of 8.0 kgm. Install the toothed belt and other parts as described earlier.
Rear oil seal (flywheel side) - replacement
The crankshaft rear oil seal can be replaced after the clutch and transmission have been removed.
1. Fix the flywheel with a screwdriver or the special tool shown in fig. Q:24. Remove the six bolts securing the flywheel to the rear end of the crankshaft and remove the flywheel.
2. Remove the oil seal from the aluminum housing using a screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the gland seat.
3. Clean the oil seal seat and the surface of the crankshaft journal. Lubricate the crankshaft journal.
4. Insert a new stuffing box into the body and press it evenly, without distortion, into place. Use the protective mandrel of tool 2003 to ensure that the seal lips are intact and to ensure correct installation (pic. Q:25). The same device guarantees a smooth installation of the oil seal (pic. Q:26).
5. Install the flywheel and tighten the mounting bolts to the required torque Before installing, apply sealant to the threads of the bolts "Loctite 270" or similar thread locking fluid.
6. Install the clutch and gearbox, gears as described in chapter "Clutch and manual transmission".
