Tool and equipment

In addition to the tool listed in chapter "Basic rules for work", to repair 1.5 / 1.6 / 1.8 l engines, the following will be required:

• Devices VW 10-208, 546 and 2078 - for adjusting valve clearances.
• VW tool 10-219/10-2033 - for replacing the camshaft oil seal.
• 10mm hexagon wrench - for loosening and tightening the cylinder head bolts with a hex socket.
• Slotted 12-point wrench size 12 mm - for loosening and tightening the cylinder head bolts type "star" - on later models.
• Device VW 10-218 - for removing valve stem seals.
• Tool VW10-219 - for removing the front crankshaft oil seal.
• Device VW 10-205 - for installing the front crankshaft oil seal.
• Device VW 2003/1 - for installing the crankshaft rear oil seal.
• Device VW 10-203 - for installing the auxiliary shaft oil seal.
