The middle part of the grid is held by holders (see fig.), which open when the plastic pin is pushed in.

Pull as much of the pin as possible out of the holder on the side of the engine compartment; remove the holder.
model grille "Golf": 1, 2 - threaded holes in the body; 3 - locking screws; 4 - edging headlights. | Mounting parts visible: 5 - holder; 6 - plastic pin; 7 - hole for placing the holder, 8 - assembled holder. |
Near the radiator, where there is no access to the holder from behind, the pin should be pushed from the front.
To prevent the pin from falling into the hole in the front cross member of the frame, the holes are covered with a piece of cardboard when removed.
If the car has additional headlights, it is necessary to unscrew the cross-head screws at the grille in front at the top of the bottom.
In addition, open the cable leading to the headlights.
Raise the grate slightly up and remove.
unscrew two (in the model "Golf") or three (in the model "Jetta") cross-slotted screws from the headlight surround, see picture.
Remove outer holder (clamp) the middle grating if the middle part is not removed.
Pull the middle part of the grille forward and pull out the headlight bezel.
One or two other parts of the grid at the bottom of the front sheet are held by cast fixing tabs.
