Removing drawers and lids (release before July 1980)

In the future, we will talk about the details. under the instrument panel. Model "Golf", produced before July 1980, has an outdated instrument panel design.

Models "Golf" release after August 1980 and "Jetta" have new instrument panel designs.



Dashboard cover from below: Pull out the two locking buttons.

Remove the plastic clip from the lock pin near the pedal post.

Glove box on the right: Unscrew one screw at a time (cross slot) closer to the middle of the car and to the engine compartment.

On right (in the direction of travel) at the fixing clip, press the pin from the bottom up: remove the clip.

Pull out the box, while turning it slightly to the side so that the locking lug of the box can come out of the heater body.

Remove glove box on right.

Unscrew the 3 cross-slotted screws at the bottom near the glove box.

Open cover. Unscrew one screw each on the right and on the left, as well as the locking screw of the locking stop.

From the front, at the glove box closer to the engine compartment, remove the lock nut: pull out the glove box.


Center console: at the edge of the console, closer to the handbrake lever, unscrew the Phillips screw.

Unscrew the other two screws in the small storage box at the top of the console.

Unscrew the switch lever knob.

Carefully pull the selector lever cover out of the console.

Pull the center console upwards.
