Replacing Disc Brake Linings

The pads change all at the same time. Only linings that have a general operating permit may be used. The fixing springs and lining brackets should also be changed. In floating caliper disc brakes, the pistons move as the lining wears. Therefore, they must be pushed back before installing new, thicker linings. In this case, the brake fluid is squeezed back into the reservoir through the pipelines. If an additional amount of brake fluid was unnecessarily added to the reservoir between pad changes, the excess must now be sucked out. Otherwise, escaping brake fluid may damage painted parts in the engine compartment. For suction, it is recommended to use an absolutely clean pipette or an old injection syringe.

Raise the machine on stands from the front.

Remove wheel.

Turn the steering wheel to provide good access to the pads.

To dismantle the lining in the disc brake with a floating caliper, after pulling out the latches, (2) remove expansion spring (1).

Then you need to remove the inner lining (3). brace (5) slide outward, if necessary tap lightly with a hammer. Only now you can remove the outer lining (4), releasing it from the fixing ledge of the movable frame.
