Checking the ball joint dust caps

The ball joints, located on the right and left between the wishbone and the wheel support housing, are maintenance-free. Steel spherical heads of ball bearing pins are filled with lubricant and are located in synthetic shells. Dustproof synthetic caps protect the hinges from dirt and moisture. If dirt gets in, it acts like emery on a hinge; moisture causes corrosion over time.

Turn the steering wheel fully to either side.

Check whether the ball bearing caps on the right and left are not damaged.

If the dust cap is damaged, do not replace it alone; you need to change the whole hinge in the kit.
