Rear wiper model "Golf" receives power through a relay. In models manufactured before July 1977, the rear window wiper operates continuously after switching on. On models manufactured after August 1977, the wiper makes only a few movements when the switch is pressed. With a new relay (mounted in models "Golf II" after January 1985) You can turn on the rear window wiper in interval mode. The interval mode is switched off by pressing the switch again.
Terminal 53 supplies current to the wiper motor; terminal 53a is used for reverse operation. When the switch is pressed accordingly, the rear washer pump starts to operate, but water appears at the jet with a delay.
