1. The steering gear cover can be replaced without removing the gears from the vehicle.
2. Depending on the vehicle model, it is necessary to remove the outer tie rod ball joint or the tie rod as described in point 7. On vehicles with reinforcement in the system, it can be removed from the right and left tie rods and therefore pull the rod if necessary.
3. Loosen the locknut and then the outer ball joint from the tie rod.
4. Remove the clips and pull the casing off the steering gear and tie rod (photo 9.7 and photo 9.8).
5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order to dismantling. To facilitate the installation of the casing, it is necessary to coat the inside surface of the casing with grease before installation. Replace the tie rod ball joint nuts with new ones.
6. At the end, check the toe-in of the front wheels.
