Always exercise extreme caution when working under the hood of the engine compartment.
Attention: Before starting any kind of work in the engine compartment under the hood:
- Stop the engine and remove the ignition key.
- Apply the parking brake to the vehicle, move the switch lever to the "R" (automatic transmission) or "N" (manual transmission).
- The engine must be cool. When mounting with hot parts and assemblies, there is a risk of burns.
- Do not spill working fluids on hot engine components.
- Never touch the radiator fan as it works depending on the engine temperature and may start unexpectedly even when the ignition is off.
When working on fuel or electrical systems, you must:
Be sure to disconnect the battery.
Do not smoke, do not install various types of heaters nearby, do not use open flames:
Always keep a fueled fire extinguisher handy.
Be especially careful when working with the engine running:
Be sure to apply the parking brake, move the selector lever to the "R" (automatic transmission) or "N" (manual transmission).
Be sure to take extreme care to avoid getting clothing, jewelry, etc. fan blades, V-belt or other moving parts.
To avoid electric shock while running or starting the engine, do not touch the ignition cables or other components of the electronic ignition system that carry high voltage. To avoid damage to the vehicle, top up working fluids in the appropriate tank or filler hole.
