Air Cleaner Care

A dirty filter element not only reduces engine power output and significantly increases fuel consumption, but can also cause premature engine wear. There is usually no need to service the air cleaner more frequently than scheduled. If your vehicle is operated in dusty areas, the air cleaner should be inspected and serviced as often as possible, up to a daily inspection. We recommend having the air cleaner serviced by a Volkswagen dealer or a specialist workshop. If it is necessary to change the air cleaner relatively frequently, before doing this procedure yourself, it is recommended that you contact your Volkswagen dealer for practical information on how to do this.

Never clean the paper filter element with gasoline, cleaner or oil.
