Car protection against corrosion

The engine compartment, as well as the engine, transmission, front and rear axle surfaces, are factory-treated with a paraffin-based agent for anti-corrosion protection. Nevertheless, it is recommended twice a year, mainly before and after the end of the winter season, to carry out a visual inspection of the condition of the protective coating of the engine compartment and the bottom of the car. If refurbishment is required, contact your dealer as soon as possible.

Caution: Do not apply additional primer or anti-corrosion coating to or near the exhaust manifold, exhaust pipes, catalytic converter or heat shields. While the vehicle is in motion, the substance used for the primer may overheat and cause a fire.

Engine compartment

If it is necessary to clean the engine compartment with steam or water, the paraffin-based protective coating is usually also removed. Therefore, it is very important to restore this protective coating on all panels, flanges, cavities and assembly surfaces of the engine. To clean the engine compartment, use only industrial grease solvents designed specifically for this purpose.

Carefully follow all solvent application instructions printed on the container by the manufacturer.

Caution: Never use gasoline, diesel fuel, or solvents that could damage rubber parts or painted surfaces and cause a fire.

Chassis

The lower screen of the body of the Volkswagen car is reliably protected from corrosion. Any damage to the primer layer as a result of unforeseen traffic accidents must be repaired immediately. Oil-based protective coating must not be used, only resin or paraffin based anti-corrosion protective agents compatible with the factory applied primer coat. Before applying the above protective agent, it is necessary to remove road dirt, salt fog particles and oils from the surface to be treated.


After the repair of the lower body, axle, transmission or engine assemblies, it is imperative to restore the damaged areas of the anti-corrosion coating.

Sealing car body cavities

All body cavities that may be subject to corrosion are carefully treated with protective agents at the factory.

Such sealing coatings do not require inspection or additional processing. If wax leaks out of the cavity at high ambient temperatures, it can be removed with a plastic scraper using an appropriate solvent.

When using gasoline to remove wax with an open flame, do not smoke, etc. Do not pour gasoline onto the ground, into open water, or into sewage. Follow all safety and environmental regulations.
