The trailer for your car must be at least 1st class. The maximum weight of the trailer in the laden condition (gross weight) and the load on the single-arm lug must not exceed the values given in "Specifications". Do not exceed the gross weight of the vehicle, which includes the weight of the vehicle itself, including the driver, passengers, luggage, tow hitch (drawbar) and a single-bladed eye of a loaded trailer.
Trailer load distribution
Check that the luggage in the trailer is evenly distributed. The heaviest items should be placed as close as possible to the axle of the trailer. All items inside the trailer must be securely fastened to prevent them from moving forward, backward or sideways while driving. Transportation of people in a trailer is prohibited.
Load on single lug
In order to create the most favorable conditions for driving a vehicle with a trailer, distribute the luggage so that the eye load corresponds to the maximum permissible value or is slightly lower. To measure this kind of load (its approximate value) you can use household scales or ask for help from a company that produces various kinds of cargo carts, or at a weighing station.
Tire pressure
If you need to tow a trailer, inflate the tires (cold) your vehicle under pressure, the values of which are indicated under the heading "Full load" on the inner wall of the glove compartment door or on the right rear vertical door trim. Inflate trailer tires to manufacturer's specifications.
Lighting system
Before you start driving, be sure to check the operation of the headlights of the car with the trailer connected to it. If necessary, adjust them. Make sure the vehicle and trailer lights are working properly.
Safety chains
Make sure that the safety chains connecting the trailer to the vehicle are secure. Check that there is enough slack in the chains to allow for easy turning while driving. It is necessary that the chains cross under the eye of the trailer to avoid falling if they are separated from the vehicle hitch.
