The allowable gross weight of a vehicle is the weight of the vehicle itself, plus the weight of a full tank of fuel, the weight of oil and coolant, plus the maximum load, which includes the weight of the passengers (68 kg per piece) and baggage weight.
The increase in luggage weight due to the use of a roof rack must be compensated accordingly by a reduction in the number of passengers.
Attention: The actual loads on the front and rear axles of the vehicle must not exceed the maximum allowable values and, in general, the permissible value of the vehicle's loaded weight.
Note: The values given for the permissible laden weight of the vehicle assume an even distribution of the load in the vehicle (passengers and baggage). When transported in a car, a heavy load placed in the luggage compartment should be moved as close as possible to the rear axle as possible in order to avoid compromising the vehicle's directional stability. Do not exceed the permitted laden weights of the vehicle and the maximum permitted axle loads. It must be remembered that when the car is overloaded, its directional stability deteriorates. When transporting cargo, watch the speed indicators of the car.
Roof load
The maximum permissible roof load is 75 kg. Only roof racks designed, tested and approved by Volkswagen should be installed.
Distribute the load in the roof rack evenly and do not exceed the maximum permitted weight of the load carried in the roof rack (including the weight of the trunk itself) or the permissible value of the weight of the car in the laden state.
Maximum trailer weight
Trailer with/without brake system 450 kg
eye load 50 kg
- Do not exceed the permissible trailer hitch loads.
