Tug launch
A vehicle with an automatic transmission cannot be started from a tow. A vehicle with a manual transmission must not be towed to avoid damage to the catalytic converter and other parts of the vehicle.
Starting with jumper cables
Caution: When working on a battery, be sure to protect your eyes and, if possible, avoid leaning over it.
Avoid contact of electrolyte with eyes and skin, and if it does, immediately wash it off with plenty of water.
Improper use of the booster battery to start the vehicle may result in an explosion.
The gases produced by car batteries are explosive. Do not breed open flames near the battery, do not smoke, do not create conditions for sparking.
Do not attempt to start the vehicle with another battery that has a low electrolyte level.
The maximum allowable voltage of the booster battery must also be 12 V. Capacity (A/h) booster battery should not be lower than the capacity of the discharged battery. Using batteries with a different maximum allowable voltage or a significantly different capacity (A/h) may result in an explosion and personal injury.
Never attempt to charge a frozen battery to avoid an explosion of the gas in the ice. First of all, let the battery thaw.
- Using a booster battery with a higher voltage can additionally cause damage to expensive sensitive electronic components such as glow plugs, relays, radios, etc.
Vehicle with dead battery:
- Turn off the lights and accessories, move the switch to the "N" or "R" (automatic transmission) or in neutral (manual transmission) and apply the parking brake.
Rules for using connecting cables
Caution: To avoid serious personal injury or damage to your vehicle, strictly follow all safety instructions and instructions for connecting cables recommended by the manufacturer. If in doubt, contact the road maintenance service.
Connecting cables must be long enough to avoid contact between two vehicles.
When connecting the connecting cables, make sure that they do not come into contact with any kind of moving parts in the engine compartment.
Incorrect connection of connecting cables can damage the generator. Always make connections as follows:
Positive (+) - to the positive (+), and negative (-) - to ground on the engine block (X).
Connecting cables
A - a discharged battery;
B - booster battery;
X - to ground on the engine block
1. Connect the cable clamp (+) to positive (+) terminal (1) discharged battery.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the positive (+) terminal (2) booster battery.
3. Connect the cable clamp (-) to negative (-) terminal (3) booster battery.
4. Connect the other end of the cable (4) to a bare metal area bolted to the engine block or directly to the engine block of a car with a dead battery. The connection point of the clamp must be located as far as possible from the battery!
5. Start the car engine with the booster battery. The engine speed should be in the medium range.
6. Start the engine with the dead battery in the normal way. If the engine does not start, contact your nearest service station.
7. After starting the engine and during its operation, disconnect the cables from both vehicles in exactly the reverse order: points 4-1.
