For the floor jack, use the same lifting points as shown in the illustrations when using the lift. To prevent damage to the lower frame or chassis, a rubber pad must be installed between the floor jack and the lifting points on the vehicle.
Raising the vehicle using a lift and floor jack
Before raising the vehicle on lifts, make sure there is sufficient clearance between the cushions and the vehicle, especially if the vehicle has a large front fascia or spoiler.
To lift the vehicle, use only the lifting points shown in the illustrations. Do not raise the vehicle with a floor jack or lift using the side of the trim panel as a support surface.
Caution: When removing components such as the engine block, transmission housing, fuel tank, front or rear axle, wheels, secure the vehicle with a hoist or add appropriate weights to maintain the center of gravity. Failure to do so may result in the vehicle becoming heavily anchored or slipping out of the lift, resulting in serious damage or possible injury.
To reduce the risk of serious injury and damage to the vehicle, only lift it with a suitable hoist or floor jack using the lifting points shown in the illustrations. Using other lifting points may cause the vehicle to roll or fall sharply when removing heavy components such as an engine or transmission block, due to a change in vehicle weight and creating an imbalance.
If it is necessary to work under a vehicle raised with a floor jack, check that additional axle stands are installed.
Lifting points
The front lift points are located on the underside of the body where the door pillar is welded to the chassis frame - see fig. B16-321. The rear lifting points are located on the side beam between the lower body and the rear axle support (see fig. B16-322) Make sure that the parking brake cable is not pinched.
Work carefully so as not to damage critical parts and assemblies that are located near the lifting points. This is primarily punished by an electric fuel pump or water separator (only for diesel engines).
