Left axle (from the left wheel) made of a solid shaft, and the right one is made of a pipe. The left drive shaft is shorter than the right one.
The joints of the axle shaft with the hinges are sealed and do not require maintenance, except for the control of the rubber casings during periodic inspection. In case of leakage of grease or cracks in the casing, the casings must be replaced immediately with new ones. Contaminants that enter the hinge cause it to wear out quickly. If there is a suspicion of severe wear of the joints, noticeable in the form of knocks, especially during the transition from acceleration to rolling (or running the car with the gear off), and vice versa, the axle shafts must be removed, and the hinges disassembled to determine the degree of wear, and also repaired or replaced with new ones.
