The engine is assembled in the reverse order of disassembly. When performing these operations, follow the instructions below.
Before installation, each part must be cleaned.
All rotating or moving parts should be coated with a thin layer of clean engine oil. This must be done before assembly, not after. Thorough lubrication of pistons, piston rings and cylinder bores is especially important.
If the engine has been completely disassembled, then all removed parts must be thoroughly cleaned. In case of partial disassembly, make sure that dirt does not get into open holes and cavities. To avoid this, seal them or muffle them with clean rags.
Oil passages are best blown out with compressed air. If there is no compressor, then you can use a non-metallic rod for cleaning. Seals, gaskets and seals must always be replaced with new ones. In no case should you save on gaskets and use them twice.
In table. 2 «Dimensional and installation data» the maximum allowable dimensions of the parts to be checked are given; if any size approaches the maximum allowable, then the part should be replaced to avoid re-disassembly of the engine in the near future.
Assembly details of individual engine components are described in the relevant chapters.
