Exhaust manifold replacement

Fastening of a final collector of the carburetor engine is shown in fig. 158. Based on this figure, the exhaust manifold can be removed and installed.

Pay attention to the difference in the fastening of the downpipe to the manifold. Depending on the type of engine, this connection is made using two clamps or a flange with a gasket. During operation, you must adhere to the following recommendations.

In order to avoid stripping the threads of the bolts securing the intake pipe flange to the manifold, it is recommended to soak the connection bolts with an anti-corrosion liquid.

Every time the exhaust manifold is disconnected from the head of the block, the manifold gasket must be replaced.

When disconnecting the front pipe from the manifold, replace the flange gasket. Tighten the manifold flange nuts evenly «criss-cross» torque 25 Nm.

When replacing the manifold, screw in the fitting to which the oxygen sensor is connected (if he is), tightening it with a torque of 35 Nm.

Attention! An unregulated catalyst can be additionally installed in the exhaust system.
