Checking the ignition distributor slider, wires, candle tips

For the formation of a normal spark, the resistance of the ignition distributor slider should not be too high.

To check the ignition distributor slider, do the following:

• Remove the ignition distributor cap.
• Connect an ohmmeter to the ignition distributor (pic. 162). Set value: (5±1,0) kOhm

To check the spark plug tip, connect an ohmmeter to its ends. The set value for the spark plug tip with RFI filter must be (5±1.0) kOhm, and for a candle tip without a radio interference filter should be (1±0,4) kOhm

To check the spark plug wires, connect an ohmmeter to their ends.

The value of their resistances should be as follows:

• wire between the ignition distributor and the spark plug, kOhm - 1.2-7.4
• wire between the ignition distributor and the ignition coil, kOhm - 1.2-2.8
• connector with radio interference filter -3-, kOhm - 0.6-1.4
