Attention! Connect and disconnect measuring instruments only with the ignition off.
Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose at the air filter and route it so that only outside air is drawn in.
Turn off all electrical consumers. To prevent the radiator fan from turning on during inspection and adjustment, disconnect the fan motor connector or remove the #1 fuse.
Attention! On engines with indices NK, HW, MH, 2G, HY with a 2E3 carburetor, it is necessary to turn on the high beam for the duration of the check and adjustment. In addition, you should make sure that the carburetor throttle lever is adjacent to the adjustment sector.
Connect the stroboscope and tachometer in accordance with the instruction manual.
Check and, if necessary, adjust the engine idle speed.
Disconnect and close the vacuum hose of the vacuum box on the ignition distributor.
Start the engine and leave it to idle. If necessary, increase the engine speed with the accelerator to no more than 1000 rpm. Illuminate the risk of ignition timing with a stroboscope.
Compare the obtained value of the ignition moment with the data in Table. 7.
The ignition is adjusted correctly if, when illuminated by a stroboscope, the risk of ignition timing on the pulley on the crankshaft coincides with the reference mark (pic. 165).
If the ignition timing marks do not match, slightly loosen the three ignition distributor mounting bolts and turn the ignition distributor until the marks match.
Tighten the mounting bolts and check the ignition timing again.
After that, mark the position of the ignition distributor on the cylinder head with paint or a center punch.
Disconnect gauges, connect vacuum hose.
Attention! After connecting the vacuum hose, the ignition timing is shifted to a value of 15-22 degrees before TDC.
Vehicles manufactured prior to ABryCTa 1985: if the ignition timing does not stand still when the strobe light is illuminated, this may be due to:
- lack of lubrication of the slider on the breaker lever;
- the presence of play in the interrupter; compare it with a new breaker.
Table 7. Lead angle (moment) ignition
1 Reduced speed, if necessary, must be compensated by the accelerator up to 900 rpm.
2 Oxygen sensor not connected.
3 From July 1989 - 9S0-1000 rpm.
