Replacing the contact group of the breaker (contact ignition system)

Over time, soot appears on the breaker contacts, noticeable by small pits and protrusions. In addition, the plastic part wears out, which leads to a decrease in the distance between the contacts. The result is a weakening of the ignition spark. Therefore, the replacement of the breaker contacts must be carried out at least every 15,000 km.

Removing

Remove the ignition distributor cap. Remove the ignition distributor slider, sealing washer.

Disconnect the breaker contact wire and align the screw, remove the contact group.

Installation

Lubricate the breaker contact support with a drop of oil.

Insert the breaker contact group. Lubricate the cam face and plastic part with multipurpose grease. When installing the contact group of the breaker, the trunnion of the support pin must snap into place.

Attention! Make sure that when installing the trunnion on the lower part of the contact group, it clicks into the hole in the carrier plate.

Carefully remove any oil or grease from contact surfaces. The contact surfaces must be mutually parallel.

Connect the wire to the breaker contacts.

Adjust contact closing angle (UZSK).

Place the sealing washer, slider and cover on the ignition distributor.

Clean the ignition distributor cover before installing, pay attention to cracks, traces of leakage currents (black channels) and, if required, replace the cap.

Pay attention to the correct installation and condition of the carbon contact, put on the ignition distributor cap.

Adjust ignition timing.
