Fully depress the accelerator pedal and lock it in this position (like laying a brick).
Check if the lever on the injection pump rested against the limiter without pressure being exerted on it.
Remove the latch if necessary (indicated by the arrow in Fig. 246) and insert it into another slot.
Recheck the draft setting and adjust if necessary.
Automatic transmission
Before starting any adjustments with the engine running, the gear selector lever must be set to the position «R» and apply the parking brake. The position of the accelerator link must be adjusted if the engine was idling.
The length of the rod must be adjusted so that the injection pump lever rests on the adjusting screw 2 (pic. 247) idle speed, and the gearbox selector is in position. «N». Otherwise, shifting to higher gears will be delayed at medium speeds, and the gearbox will not be able to switch to the mode «E» (in fig. 247 shows the placement of the injection pump lever, and in fig. 248 - on the gearbox).

Move the gear selector lever to the position «R». Remove the pump cover.
Check idle speed and maximum speed and adjust if necessary. These values should be respectively the following: (850±100) rpm and (5350±50) rpm
Loosen the nut adjusting the accelerator link and disconnect the end of the cable. Remove the retainer and remove the head from the injection pump lever.
Move the spherical head along the transverse groove of the injection pump lever from the position «A» (idling) into position «IN» (maximum speed) on (32±1) mm (pic. 249).
Replace the head and install the retainer.
Remove the rubber cap (arrow in fig. 251) and loosen both nuts on the pump bracket.
Set the lever on the gearbox to the position «T» and shell sleeve (shown by arrow) pull to the right (pic. 250). The return spring must not be under tension. In this position, tighten adjusting nuts 1 and 2 on the bracket. Connect the accelerator link. Push down on the accelerator pedal (maximum power mode). The second person must tighten the adjusting nut at this time (pic. 251) next to the gearbox oil line until the lever on the gearbox rests against the stop on the right side. Spring 4 (see fig. 247) the device for switching on the maximum power mode must be compressed at the same time.
Tighten the accelerator link nuts. The cable must not be under tension.
To verify that the installation is correct, do the following:
- check if the injection pump lever touches the idle speed adjusting screw with the return spring fully pressed (see fig. 247) and gear selector in position «N»;
- depress the accelerator pedal slowly until full power is reduced and check that the lever on the injection pump touches the maximum speed adjusting screw. In this case, the spring of the device for enabling the full power mode should not be compressed;
- slowly press the accelerator pedal to the stop; the collector must rest against the limiter (buffer), and the spring of the full power enable device must be compressed.
