Brake pads should always be replaced as a set. If the old pads are re-installed, then. before removing them, they must be suitably marked so that they can then be placed back in their original position. Otherwise, the brakes may act slowly.
Disconnect the handbrake cable from the brake seat lever.
Place the rear of the car on jack stands and unscrew the rear wheels.
Separate the handbrake cable from the brake seat.
Disconnect and turn out both fixing screws of the cylinder of a brake saddle. While doing this, hold the guide bolt with a fork wrench.
Rock the brake seat back to remove the brake pads.
Using the special tool, screw in the piston while pressing the brake seat. Rotate the tool to the right. Since brake fluid may leak out, some fluid must be sucked out of the brake master cylinder reservoir.
Measure the thickness of the brake pads. If they are worn out and the thickness of the block together with the metal plate has decreased to 7 mm, they should be replaced as a set.
Clean the released brake seat support and cylinder from brake dust. At the same time check the humidity; There should be no evidence of brake cylinder leaks. Otherwise, repair the brake seat cylinder or install a new cylinder.
When installing the brake pads, proceed as follows.
Insert both brake pads into the shafts and tilt the body forward again.
Use new screws to fasten the brake seat, tightening them to a torque of 35 Nm. While doing so, hold the guide bolt again with a fork spanner.
With the engine off, depress the brake pedal hard at least 40 times to activate the adjusting mechanism.
Perform all other operations in reverse order. If necessary, correct the level of brake fluid in the reservoir of the main brake cylinder, tighten the wheel nuts to a torque of 110 Nm.
After installation, adjust the handbrake as follows.
Release the handbrake lever.
Tighten the adjusting nut on the handbrake lever until the lever in the area of the brake seat rises above the stop -arrow-, but the lift must not exceed 1.5 mm.
Fully tighten the handbrake lever and release it again. The handbrake is now perfectly adjusted and no recheck is required.
Check that both rear wheels turn freely.
