For the front and rear wheels of the described models use disc brakes. The brake discs in front of them are vented. The operations described in this section apply to both drum and disc brakes. If there is a built-in anti-lock braking device for regulating the braking force, a ring gear for the wheel speed sensor is installed on the brake disc. The variant with disc brakes is brake saddles called VW MK.11.
The brake system is made in the form of a two-circuit system, i.e. each section of the brake master cylinder is responsible for braking diagonally across two wheels.
The braking system is equipped as standard with a brake booster. In certain versions, there is a brake pressure regulator.
