The regulator valve is on the side of the body and is connected to the rear axle by means of a spring.
This valve has two functions:
- Distributes brake fluid diagonally between the front and rear wheels;
- Reduces the brake pressure on the rear wheels during sudden braking of the car.
Mounting and dismounting of the valve are simple operations, however, due to the detachment of the screw for attaching the spring to the regulator, it is necessary to re-adjust. To simplify the solution to this problem, you can use the scriber to mark the position of the spring anchor roller on the lever and install the new regulator again in the same position. Pay attention to which channels the individual fittings are connected to. After installing the valve, it is necessary to remove air from the brake system.
The operation of the brake pressure regulator can be carried out as follows.
Place the rear of the car on sturdy jack stands.
Lie under the vehicle and inspect the brake pressure adjuster on the rear axle.
Your assistant should press the brake pedal all the way down and then quickly release it.
As you press and release the brake pedal, you should see movement of the brake pressure control lever. Repeat the test several times.
The above test only indicates that the brake pressure regulator is working, but nothing can be learned from it about how the pressure distribution actually occurs. This can only be checked in the workshop using two pressure gauges.
We can give you one more piece of advice. If the pressure on the rear axle is too high, the spring tension must be reduced; if the pressure on the rear axle is too low, then you need to increase the tension of the spring to increase the pressure on the axle.
