The connected linkage between the gas pedal and the injection pump is very sensitive to kink. If during operation it weakens in the engine compartment and is located at an unacceptable angle, then it may already be damaged. A clear warning signal is the heavy travel of the gas pedal. After that, you should be prepared for the fact that the thrust may soon crack. Accordingly, when installing a new gas thrust, it must be handled with care.
Removing gas thrust
The end of the gas thrust on the articulated axle box at the lever «gas» Remove the injection pump with a screwdriver.
Pull out the safety washer on the stop of the gas draft sheath.
Pull off the shell after removing the washer from the rubber bushing.
Remove the rubber bushing from the cam using the lever.
With an automatic transmission, hang the link from the drive lever and from the stop on the left of the gearbox.
Unscrew left dashboard cover (see chapter «Interior arrangement of the cabin»).
Under the dashboard, pull out the throttle rod axis above the gas pedal lever.
Squeeze out the rubber bushing from the partition between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.
Pull out the throttle.
Under no circumstances should the new throttle link be bent during installation.
Throttle adjustment (Manual Transmission)
Have an assistant fully depress and hold the accelerator pedal.
Press the injection pump lever to full power.
Tighten the gas traction sheath and insert the locking plug into the corresponding slot on the support.
Control: with the gas pedal fully depressed, the injection pump lever should enter all the way.
Throttle control adjustment (Manual Transmission)
Clamp an object 15 mm high between the car floor stop and the gas pedal (exactly).
Press the gas pedal to this object and hold it in this state.
Press the injection pump lever to the full throttle position.
Insert the locking plug into the corresponding groove of the gas draft sheath on the stop.
On the injection pump lever, a play of 1 mm is allowed with the gas pedal fully depressed.
Remove plug from switch «Kick-down». This switch is located on the partition between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.
Connect an ohmmeter to the contact switch. It should show infinity Om. (open).
Have an assistant slowly press the gas pedal. Immediately after reaching the kick-down point, the resistance should drop to 0 ohms. In this case, the gas pedal should not reach the stop a little.
