To check if the valve closes flawlessly, if there are worn or broken piston rings, or if there are any other defects in the cylinders, the compression pressure in all cylinders should be checked. In this case, the temperature must be equal to its operating temperature.
Unscrew the spark plugs.
Open throttle valve.
Insert a compression pressure gauge into the first spark plug hole.
Ask your assistant to fully press the gas pedal and turn on the starter.
Crank the engine until the needle on the compression gauge indicates maximum pressure.
Check the other cylinders one by one in the same way.
It is considered normal if the reading of any of the cylinders is at least 80% of the best reading of the cylinder. Low, uneven compression can be caused by worn piston rings, which is also indicated by excessive oil consumption. With good compression, the indicator should be at least 7.5 atm., But with an increase in mileage, this indicator decreases.
