The rain sensor is located at the base of the rearview mirror. When it starts to rain, the sensor automatically turns on the windshield wipers. The prerequisite for automatic wiper activation is that the wipers must be switched on intermittently.
The rain sensor illuminates the windshield with an LED. When the glass is dry, the LED beam is reflected from the glass surface and fixed by a photodiode. If the windshield is damp, the light beam is reflected to a lesser extent. The reflection of light from the windshield depends on the strength of the rain.
Removing
1. Separate the casings (1 and 5) rearview mirror bases and remove them.
2. Remove electrical connector (4) from the mirror bracket (3) and disconnect it.
3. Moving down, disconnect the mirror bracket from the support.
Installation
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
