Front suspension shock absorber
- 1 - self-locking nut, 60 Nm. When installing, a new self-locking nut must be used;
- 2 - emphasis;
- 3 - suspension strut mount;
- 4 - nut, 60 Nm;
- 5 - suspension strut bearing;
- 6 - axial spherical support;
- 7 - protective sleeve;
- 8 - spring plate;
- 9 - helical spring. When replacing, it is necessary to use a spring with the same color marking;
- 10 - self-locking nut, 50 Nm + tighten by 90°. When installing, a new self-locking nut must be used. It is possible to tighten the nut at an angle from 90°to 120°;
- 11 - rotary fist;
- 12 - bolt. At installation it is necessary to use a new bolt;
- 13 - shock absorber. Shock absorbers must be replaced in pairs;
- 14 - buffer;
- 15 - protective cover
Lower front suspension
- 1 - bolts for fastening the lower ball joint;
- 2 - caliper mounting bolts;
- 3 - connecting plastic rod;
- 4 - a bolt of fastening of draft
Order of execution
1. Loosen the front wheel bolts, then raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands.
2. Remove the front wheels.
3. Unscrew two bolts (2), fixing the front brake caliper (see fig. Lower front suspension). Without disconnecting the brake hose from the caliper, using a soft wire, hang the caliper to the body. Do not stretch or kink the brake hose while doing this.
4. unscrew the bolt (4), fastening the connecting rod (3) to the lower arm (see fig. Lower front suspension).
5. Disconnect the speed sensor wire from the suspension strut.
Right suspension strut
6. Remove the lower mudguard of the engine compartment.
7. Unscrew the right drive shaft from the gearbox.
8. Unscrew a nut and take a clamping bolt of the lower fastening of an amortization rack to a rotary fist.
9. Using a large screwdriver blade or pry bar, pry open the slot in the steering knuckle. At the same time, the assistant should press the brake disc down to remove the steering knuckle from the suspension strut. To open the shock absorber slot, you can use a special tool VW 3424 or a tool made by yourself (a = 8 mm, b = 5.5 mm).
10. Holding the shock absorber rod from turning with a 7 mm hex wrench (1) or wrench 2593-21, unscrew the self-locking nut that secures the damper rod.
11. Being careful, take from under a wing of the car an amortization rack.
