The power steering fluid level can be checked when cold or hot during operation. It is prescribed to check the fluid level in the power steering in a cold state.
1. On a vehicle that has not been driven, with the engine off, set the front wheels to drive straight ahead.
2. Unscrew the cap from the power steering reservoir. Wipe the dipstick at the bottom of the cover with a clean rag.
3. Screw on and then unscrew the cover.
4. Check the liquid level, which should be in zone A. The permissible deviation of the liquid level on the dipstick from the MIN·mark is±2 mm.
5. Top up with fresh fluid if necessary.
6. Do not allow a condition in which the power steering reservoir is empty.
7. Screw the cap onto the power steering reservoir.
8. Take a test drive at which the power steering fluid warms up to a temperature of approximately 50°C. Check the fluid level, which should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the other side of the dipstick.
