Diagram for determining the performance of the fuel pump
Fuel pump performance diagram at 3 bar fuel system pressure
Order of execution
1. Disconnect the fuel supply from the distributor (2) and return (1) fuel hoses.
2. Using an additional hose, connect the supply pipe of the fuel line to the measuring vessel.
3. Connect a voltmeter to the battery terminals.
4. Turn on the remote control switch for 15 seconds and at the same time measure the voltage on the battery.
5. Measure the amount of fuel in the measuring vessel and determine the performance of the fuel pump from the diagram (see fig. Diagram for determining the performance of the fuel pump).
6. Also measure the performance of the fuel pump when operating under pressure. To do this, connect a pressure gauge with a stopcock to the supply hose and, with the fuel pump running, set the stopcock pressure to 3 bar. Measure the performance of the fuel pump and compare it with the chart (see fig. Fuel pump performance diagram at 3 bar fuel system pressure).
7. If fuel pump performance is insufficient, recheck performance with a new fuel filter.
8. If the performance of the fuel filter is still insufficient, clean the fuel supply system and strainer.
9. If the fuel system is clean and in good condition, check the condition of the fuel pump.
10. Remove the remote test system and replace the fuse.
