Removing
Attention! Familiarize yourself with the precautions for working on airbags.
1. Disconnect the wire terminal from the negative pole of the battery «masses» (-), by turning off the ignition first.
Familiarize yourself with the provisions of the chapter «Battery - removal and installation».
2. Insulate the battery terminals to prevent accidental contact.
3. Unlock the steering column, move it up and lock it in this position.
4. Turn the steering wheel 1/4 turn counterclockwise until the side spokes on the steering wheel are vertical.
5. Insert a screwdriver 1 approx. 7 mm wide and 18 cm long into the hole on the back of the steering wheel until it stops (see illustration).
6. Turn the reject in the direction of the arrow as shown in illustration 14.5. As a result, the latch of the airbag unit 2 will be pressed out and the unit will slightly move out of the mounting location on the steering wheel.
7. Turn a steering wheel on 180°and wring out the second clamp on the opposite side from the first.
8. Turn the steering wheel back 90°, place it in neutral position and pull the airbag unit 2 slightly out of the mounting location on the steering wheel (see illustration 14.5).
9. Cars with multifunction steering wheel buttons.
Disconnect the plug 3 for powering the multifunction buttons on the back of the airbag unit 2 (see illustration).
Attention! Before disconnecting the power supply wire of the airbag unit, the electrostatic voltage that arises on the specialist must be removed. To do this, he must touch the door lock or the body.
10. Feed the lead on plug 4 in the direction of the arrow, as shown in illustration 14.9, and disconnect the airbag plug.
11. Remove the airbag unit 2 from the steering wheel (see illustration 14.9).
12. Lay the removed block of an airbag with a steering wheel cover up.
Installation
13. Lay the wire 5 of the airbag on the back side of the block as shown in illustration 14.9.
14. Connect the plug 4 of the airbag unit and fix it (see illustration 14.9).
15. Cars with multifunction steering wheel buttons. Connect plug 3 (see illustration 14.9).
16. Insert block 2 of the airbag into the mounting hole on the steering wheel, crimp the block on the right and left sides so that it locks into place with a distinctly audible click.
17. Make sure the airbag unit is securely attached to the steering wheel.
18. Turn on the ignition.
19. Remove the tape from the battery poles and connect the positive potential wire terminal first, and then the wire terminal «masses» (-) to the battery.
Attention! At the time of connecting the battery in the car should not be people.
