Removing
1. Disconnect the battery.
Attention! Observe the precautions regarding the handling of airbags.
2. Remove the airbag on the steering wheel, see the relevant chapter.
3. Align wheels, having established them for the movement directly, and remove a steering wheel, the corresponding chapter see.
4. Remove facing of a steering column, the corresponding chapter see.
5. Unscrew the bolt 1 under the contact coil 4 (see illustration).
6. Insert a drill 2 or a suitable wire with a diameter of 2.5 mm into the hole on the steering column control unit 3, pushing it to a depth of approximately 45 mm (see arrow A in illustration 36.5). In this way, the inner stop is released (see arrow B).
7. Use a screwdriver to pry out the locking lug on the back of the control box 3 (see arrow in illustration).
8. Disconnect the control unit from a steering column, having submitted it downwards.
9. Disconnect plug 6 on the control box (see illustration 36.7).
10. Remove the retaining clip on plug 7 and disconnect the plug from the control unit (see illustration 36.7).
Attention! When installing the unit, make sure that the contact pins of the plugs are not bent. The plugs themselves should lock into place when connected, which is accompanied by a distinctly audible click.
11. Raise the locking leashes a little (see arrows in illustration) and disconnect the contact spiral 1 from the steering column.
Attention! It is not allowed to shift the position of the spiral. To do this, it should be fixed with tape.
Attention! The spiral has a reference mark, which is visible through a small viewing window.
12. Disconnect the steering angle sensor 1 from the steering column switch by pushing it back (see arrow in illustration).
13. Insert template 1 1.0 mm thick into the gap between the switch and the coil body and press out the retaining protrusion (see arrow A in the illustration).
14. Disconnect the steering column switch 2 by pushing it back from the coil housing (see arrow B in illustration 36.13).
15. Disconnect, acting in the same way, the turn indicator stalk switch.
Installation
The steering column switches are installed in the reverse order of removal. The switches must engage with a clearly audible click when connected.
When replacing the old steering column switch with a new one, the basic settings must be carried out in a workshop. When replacing the control unit, it must also enter the appropriate code (work is done in the workshop).
