A power failure occurs, for example, when the battery is disconnected, when the radio is removed from the instrument panel, or when the radio's fuse blows. When the vehicle is equipped with original VW radio equipment, the radio is specially matched to the vehicle using a diagnostic tester. Therefore, radio coding is not required.
When installing a new radio receiver or replacing an old one due to a malfunction, contact a workshop for the appropriate coding.
Attention! If the radio is coded, check and record the code before disconnecting the battery or removing the receiver. If the code is unknown, then only a specialized workshop can put the radio into operation.
The individual code is indicated in the operating instructions supplied with the radio receiver. Do not keep the manual in the car.
Removing
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the overlay of the radio/heater panel, see the relevant chapter.
3. Remove four screws (see arrows in illustration) and pull the radio out of the mounting compartment as far as possible to disconnect the plugs located on the back of the radio.
4. Squeeze the leashes of the plugs (see arrows A in the illustration), pull up the retaining spring 1 (see arrow B) and disconnect the plug.
5. Unlock the plug (see arrow in illustration) and disconnect the antenna wire from the back of the radio.
Attention! Depending on the radio model, two antenna wires may be connected to the radio.
Installation
6. Connect the plugs and antenna wire to the radio and insert the radio into the mounting hole on the console. When doing this, do not apply pressure to the display or radio control buttons, as this may cause damage.
7. Screw in the four screws securing the radio.
8. Reinstall the trim for the radio/heater panel, see the appropriate chapter.
9. Connect the battery.
10. Enter, if required, the security code into the radio and check its operation.
