This manual is intended to enable the motorist to competently discuss and plan vehicle repairs with a professional mechanic, or to carry out repairs on their own. The guide will help you determine what work needs to be done (even if you decide that you can do it in the workshop), carry out diagnostics and provide information on the technical condition, determine the sequence of actions and diagnostics during maintenance or repair. However, we hope that you will use this Guide specifically for independent work. Simple work will take much less time than servicing a car in a workshop, where you need to come twice to leave and pick up the car. And, of course, most importantly, you can save some money that will go to pay for the work. A good set of metric wrenches, screwdrivers and feeler gauges is essential for maintenance and repair, as these basic hand tools are used for most jobs. Sometimes special tools or special training are needed for repairs. This is stated in the warnings in this manual.
The manual includes drawings and descriptions showing the function of the various parts and their location. The works are described and photographed in a step-by-step sequence, so that even a beginner can perform them.
The guide consists of 11 Sections. Sections are divided into Parts and Chapters.
There are many illustrations, especially in those parts that give a detailed sequence of operations to be performed. The text is accompanied by explanatory illustrations. They are numbered in decimal numbers according to the Chapter number and paragraph number in it, for example: 6.4 - the illustration refers to paragraph 4 of Chapter 6. At the beginning of the Guide, detailed Table of Contents is given, by which you can easily find the question you are interested in.
«left» or «right» of the car is viewed relative to the person who sits in the driver's seat facing forward.
Unless otherwise stated, nuts and bolts are unscrewed by turning counterclockwise and tightened by turning clockwise.
Manufacturers are constantly modifying vehicles with changes to specifications, specifications and recommendations, and upon notification, we will update our Manual as soon as possible.
Golf V
The fifth model range of VW Golf cars was presented to the buyer in September 2003.
This model range includes vehicles with a body «sedan», Golf Plus and Jetta.
With the change of the model range, there is an almost forced increase in the size of the body. The fifth generation Golf is also larger than its predecessor. It has become longer than the previous model by 55 mm, wider by 24 mm and higher by 41 mm with dimensions of 4204 mm in length and 1759 mm in width.
VW Golf has a comprehensive passive safety system, the elements of which are airbags for the driver, front passenger, side airbags and airbags in the headrests, seat belt tensioners in the front seats.
Cars are equipped as standard with stability stabilization system (ESP) and brake booster. The brake booster is designed to stop the car in an emergency due to the hydraulic drive. The device increases the braking force even with light pressure on the brake pedal and thus shortens the braking distance in emergency situations.
Golf cars are equipped with petrol and diesel engines of different power, displacement and design. This makes it possible to choose between economical or powerful sports cars according to personal needs and requirements. Engine power is realized both for the drive of only the front wheels, and for the all-wheel drive of all four wheels.
Golf Plus
Golf Plus went on sale in January 2005. Compared to cars with a body «sedan» it is taller and the rear lights are equipped with LED bulbs.
Jetta
Jetta vehicles have been on sale since August 2005. The rear window has a gentle slope, which gives the car the contour of a sedan. The rear lights, like the Golf Plus, are equipped with LED bulbs.
Touran
In March 2003, the Touran compact van went on sale.
The Touran's cabin has five seats, and if necessary, a sixth can be additionally installed. The advantage of the Touran is the ability to change the configuration of the cabin and its large capacity of 1989 liters.
The team behind this manual would like to thank you for purchasing this book and wish you success in maintaining and repairing your vehicle. We are sure that the book will be useful to you.
