Attention! To perform work under the car, its installation on the goats must be reliable. Lifting and holding the car with a jack is not enough in this case. Life threatening!.
Only place the vehicle on stands when unloaded. The goats must stand on a level and firm surface.
Install the jack stands under the car so that one of their side legs extends outward.
Jacking points from the vehicle tool kit
Golf
Places for installing a jack on the side rails (see illustration 3.0) embossed on the skirt.
Touran
The distance of the jacking point at the front of the vehicle from the front wheel well is 12 cm and from the rear wheel well is 31.5 cm (see illustration 3.0a).
The jack should be installed so that the grip of the jack tightly covers the side member, and the stop is firmly on the floor surface (see illustration 3.0b).
1. Rotate the jack handle until the corresponding wheel is raised.
2. Install the vehicle's raised jack stands.
If the wheels remain on the ground when the vehicle is raised, chock them to prevent the wheels from rolling forward or backward. Don't rely on the handbrake. It needs to be loosened for some jobs.
Raising the car with a garage jack or lift
Attention! When jacking up the vehicle, use suitable rubber or wood chocks to avoid damage to the underbody. Do not lift the vehicle by the engine or transmission parts, the oil pan, or by the front or rear axles.
The foot of the lift at the front of the vehicle must be mounted on reinforcement B of the side member near point A, where the onboard jack grip is placed.
The reinforcement of the side member must be located on the bearing foot of the lift arm (see arrows in illustration 3.0c).
At the rear of the vehicle, the foot of the lift must be mounted on reinforcement B of the side member near point A, where the grip of the onboard jack is placed. The reinforcement of the side member must be located on the bearing foot of the lift arm (see arrows in illustration 3.0g).
