Vehicles with 1.6 liter BGU/BSE/BSF petrol and diesel engines.
Removing
1. Drain the coolant.
2. Vehicles with a diesel engine. Remove the generator, see the relevant chapter.
3. Disconnect the cooling system hose from nozzle 2 on the cylinder block by opening the fastening clamp and shifting it onto the hose (see illustration).
4. Unscrew the two bolts 1 fastening the exhaust pipe 2 to the cylinder block and remove it together with the thermostat (see illustration 3.3).
5. Rotate thermostat 4 by 90° (1/4 turn) to the left and remove it from the outlet (see illustration 3.3).
6. Remove O-ring 3 and replace it with a new one.
Installation
7. Moisten a new O-ring 3 with coolant and install it in the outlet 2 (see illustration 3.3).
8. Replace thermostat 4 in the outlet and turn it 90° (1/4 turn) right (see illustration 3.3).
Attention! The thermostat bracket should be almost vertical.
9. Install the pipe and fix it with bolts with a tightening torque of 15 Nm.
10. Put a hose on the outlet pipe and secure it with a clamp.
11. Cars with a diesel engine. Replace the generator.
12. Pour coolant into the reservoir.
13. Start the engine and let it run until the thermostat opens. The opening of the thermostat is indicated by a heated lower radiator hose.
14. Inspect the outlet pipe and make sure that it, as well as the hose, is firmly fixed there is no coolant leakage.
