Removing
Open the back door and prop it up.
Swing out retaining clip -1- to one side and pull out.
Using a screwdriver, lift locking clip -2- and remove gas spring from ball stud.
Caution: If the gas-filled shock absorber is to be installed again, the retaining clip -2- must not be completely pulled out of the ball bearing, as this will damage it.
Additional parts shown in the picture:
3 - support;
4 - bolt, 7 Nm;
5 - sealing washer;
6 - ball pin, 20 Nm.
Attention: If the gas-filled shock absorber is to be replaced, it must be vented before being disposed of. To do this, clamp the gas-filled shock absorber in the zone x = 50 mm in a vise. Be sure to clamp in the specified area, otherwise the possibility of an accident cannot be ruled out! Then saw through the shock absorber cylinder in the first third of its total length, counting from the restrictive edge on the side of the piston rod. Cover the cut area with rags to trap spilled oil. In addition, during sawing, you must wear safety glasses.
Installation
Push the gas-filled shock absorber onto the ball stud and secure.
Push the ball head of the gas-filled shock absorber onto the support, insert the locking clip and fix it.
