Driving style
Fuel consumption, environmental pollution, wear and tear of the engine, brakes, tires and other parts of the car depend on the driving style.
For economical driving, the following rules are recommended.
Do not keep the engine running when stopped.
When idling, the engine takes a long time to warm up, while the wear of parts and the emission of harmful substances is the highest, so you need to start moving immediately after the engine starts to work steadily, while avoiding high speeds.
Do not unnecessarily drive at too high or too low speeds - change gears in a timely manner. The correct choice of gear and engine load not only reduces fuel consumption, but also increases engine life. Fuel consumption, for example, in second gear is twice as much as in top gear. At the same time, engine noise is reduced.
You should not move at maximum speed unnecessarily. At high speeds, fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and noise increase. At a speed of three-quarters of the maximum, fuel consumption is approximately halved, and the loss of time is usually insignificant.
Move as evenly as possible, planning your actions in advance. Excessive overtaking and braking increase fuel consumption, increase wear and tear on machinery and damage the environment.
Switch off the engine during forced stops.
Terms of Use
Fuel consumption depends on driving conditions. When planning a trip, try to avoid places with adverse conditions.
Negatively affects fuel consumption, for example, the following:
- High traffic density, especially in big cities with numerous traffic lights.
- Short trips over short distances, during which the engine does not fully warm up.
- Slow traffic in low gear.
Of course, I influence fuel consumption: and factors that do not depend on the driver. For example, it is normal to increase fuel consumption in winter or in difficult road conditions (bad road, traffic: trailer, long climbs, etc.)
