Most electrical circuits are protected by fuses.
The relay and fuse box is located at the bottom of the dashboard, on the left, behind the cover. It is recommended that you always carry a few spare fuses with you, which you can purchase from Volkswagen Service Stations.
Fuse replacement
- Switch off the relevant electrical appliance.
- Remove the fuse box cover - to do this, grab the handle (see arrow in fig. В31-060С) and pull back.
- Using the table, determine which fuse belongs to the failed device.
- Remove the correct fuse. If the fuse is blown, you can tell by the melted metal strip.
- Replace the blown fuse with a new one of the same current rating.
- Replace the cover (tongue down) and close by pushing it up until it clicks.
Directions
If the new fuse blows again, the appliance must be checked at a service station as soon as possible and repaired.
Never install a fuse rated for a higher current, as this may burn out the protected electrical appliance or damage other elements of the electrical circuit.
Some of the electrical appliances listed in the table are not installed on all models or are optional equipment.
