Operation in winter conditions
When using summer diesel fuel at negative ambient temperatures, blockages may occur in the pipes of the fuel system, because. the fuel becomes too viscous and paraffin starts to come out of it. For this reason, in the cold season should be used "winter" fuel that remains liquid even at low temperatures.
Information on the grades of diesel fuel accepted in various countries can be obtained from Volkswagen service stations.
Fuel filter preheat
The vehicle is equipped with a fuel filter preheater. Using this device, the engine can be started at temperatures down to -25°C, if fuel is used that is designed for frosts down to -15°C. The addition of gasoline or kerosene to the fuel in this case is not necessary.
If at a negative temperature the fuel thickens and the engine does not start, the car must be warmed up in a warm room.
It is undesirable to mix diluents into diesel fuel.
