4 cylinder engine
Removing
Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
Remove thermostat.
Loosen the V-belt pulley bolts by pressing and holding the V-belt.
Remove V-belt, see chapter «Engine».
Loosen the coolant hose clamps at the coolant pump.
Remove the coolant hoses, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the pump.
Rotate the pump shaft to check for ease of movement.
If the pump bearing seal is damaged or leaks, replace the entire coolant pump assembly.
Installation
Fit coolant pump with new O-ring and tighten to 20 Nm.
Attention: If only the paper seal or the bearing housing with the pump wheel were replaced, tighten the bearing housing with a torque of 10 Nm. Under no circumstances should the bolts be overtightened.
Install thermostat.
Fit the coolant hoses and tighten the clamps.
Screw on the V-belt pulley.
Install V-belt, see chapter «Engine».
Drink new coolant.
After the test drive: Check hoses and coolant pump for leaks.
