Attention: In vehicles equipped with electronic ignition systems, various circumstances must be taken into account in order to avoid personal injury or damage to the ignition system, see chapter «Ignition system».
Note: Carburetor or injection screws that can change the composition of the exhaust gases must be protected against unauthorized access in accordance with legal regulations. The location and number of adjusting screws depend on the type of carburetor.
Protective caps are removed with pliers or a screwdriver. In some cases, it is advisable to screw a screw with a diameter of approximately 2 mm into the protective cap, and then remove the cap using this screw with forceps. In this case, the protective caps are destroyed. After adjustment, the adjusting screws must be closed with new caps (from spare parts).
As soon as the exhaust gas values no longer correspond to the prescribed values, the vehicle operating permit becomes invalid. If the carburetor does not have protective caps, then when checking the car with a traffic police, penalties may be imposed.
