Checking the ignition distributor slider

For the perfect functioning of the ignition spark, the resistance of the distributor slider should not be too large.

Remove the ignition distributor cap.



Connect an ohmmeter to the distributor slider. The prescribed resistance value is 0.6 to 1.4 kΩ, marked R1.

If the value of the measured resistance does not correspond to the prescribed value, replace the ignition distributor slider.

Only for VEZ systems. KE-Motronic, Motronic (AAA)

The ignition distributor slider is firmly glued to the shaft. To replace the slider, the old slider must be destroyed, for example, crushed with tongs. Do not break the slider, as this may damage the shaft / bearing of the ignition distributor.

Remove residues from the shaft and glue a new slider with VAG AMV 1B510001 glue.

Attention: On some car models, the slider is fixed to the shaft with a lock nut. In this case, unscrew the nut and replace the slider with a new one. The removed slider is no longer used.
