In accordance with this manual, it is possible to electrically check the individual parts and wiring of the Mono-Jetronic system. Before checking, it is recommended to interrogate the memory device for fault codes, see above.
When you need to perform system measurements of parts, you must follow the sequence outlined in the table. The measured values shown were obtained using a VAG 1315 or VAG 1526 digital multimeter. Different values may be obtained when using other multimeters with different internal resistances. The stated measured values are valid at an ambient temperature of 0°C to 40°C.
The vehicle battery must be charged and properly connected.
Check fuse #18, replace if necessary.
Check fuel pump and fuel pump relay.
Check the reliability of the connection between the engine ground and the vehicle body ground.
Switch off the ignition.
Disconnect the plug at the control unit of the Digifant system (right under the water cover). In doing so, press the retaining clips on both sides of the plug, see above.
The contacts of the plug-in block are numbered. Measure the resistance between the indicated contacts. Then make sure that the contacts are not damaged during measurements. Perform the check in accordance with the table.
1) At the disconnected plug of the knock sensor.
2) At the disconnected plug of the throttle valve potentiometer.
